The short version
VizStephas no accounts and no sign-up. You can use every feature without giving us any personal information. We don't sell data, we don't run third-party ad trackers, and the only data that leaves your browser is standard, aggregated usage analytics.
What we collect
- Anonymous usage analytics. If analytics are enabled on this deployment (Google Analytics 4), we receive aggregated information such as pages visited, approximate region, browser type, and referral source. We use it to understand which visualizations help people and what to build next.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp) for security and operations, retained briefly.
What stays on your device
Preferences like your theme (light/dark) and workspace layout (e.g. whether the code drawer is open) are stored in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device, and clearing your browser storage removes them.
Cookies
VizStepitself does not set tracking cookies. If analytics are enabled, Google Analytics may set its own cookies to distinguish visitors; see Google's privacy documentation for details. You can block these with standard browser settings or content blockers — the site works fully without them.
Children
VizStep is an educational tool suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — there is simply no mechanism to submit it.
